The Artist's View
There is a tremendous effort today to remove the mention
of the name Jesus from any public discourse, whether in the public school,
political officials, or the press. Why in all of history is this name being
banished and those who reverence it being labeled intolerant extremists? On
the other hand it is the only name in history being used as a curse word
and publicly accepted as such. Who is this Jesus?
"Who is this Jesus? one may ask. The Bible calls him "Son
of God." Isaiah predicted his birth... "Behold, a virgin shall conceive, and
bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel (God with us). Isaiah 7:14.
"For God So loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that
whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life."
John 3:16. As a son he has all the characteristics of his Father God. He is
holy, he is love, he is truth. "Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the
truth, and the life; no man cometh unto the Father, but by me." John 14:6.
The Bible calls him the creator. "For by him were all
things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and
invisible, whether they are thrones, or dominions or principalities or
powers: all things were created by him, and for him." Colossians 1:16 "Thou
art worthy, 0 Lord, to receive glory and honor and power: for thou hast
created all things, and for thy pleasure they are and were created."
Revelation 4:11. As creator he has control over his creation and
demonstrated it by calming the sea, Matthew 8:26, and by walking on the
water, Matthew 14:26.
The Bible calls him Savior. "And we have seen and do
testify that the Father sent the Son to be the Savior of the world."
I John 4:14. Savior for a world that is doomed by the sin
that mankind chose to live in. As Savior his death paid the penalty for the
sins of mankind. "Who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all
iniquity." Titus 3:14.
The Bible calls him risen Lord. "For to this end Christ
died and rose and lived again, that he might be Lord of both the dead and
the living." Romans 14:9. He conquered death to pave the way for all mankind
to have eternal life with him. "These things have I written unto you that
believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal
life." I John 5:13.
The Bible calls him judge. "And He commanded us to preach
to the people, and to testify that it is He who was ordained by God to be
Judge of the living and the dead." Acts 10:42. Those who believe in him
receive eternal life, John 3:16, but those who reject him are condemned to
hell, John 3:18.
Now that you have read this far, you will be judged by
whether or not you choose now to believe. Simply confess to him that you
want to be saved from your sins and believe in Jesus as your Savior. Should
you choose now not to do this, you will remain in your condemnation. "He
that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life; and he that believeth not
the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him." John 3:36
"Neither is there salvation in any other; for there is none other name under
heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved." Acts 4:12.
